First Nations Media Australia
Grant round: 2019
Amount: $49,670
This research report captures evidence about the perspectives and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about digital inclusion, especially as experienced through the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. It canvases views from staff in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media and other organisations across the country about digital access, use and experiences.
The pandemic and associated lockdowns of regions and communities early in 2020 meant that the researchers were unable to travel to or spend time on community. The project had to adapt, and an online survey was developed and distributed to community-based organisations across the country, drawing on the networks and partnerships central to the work of First Nations Media Australia and the inDigiMOB project.
