The ACMA is holding community consultation on whether – in a converged media environment – broadcast codes of practice should be reviewed and if current 'regulatory interventions' are still relevant.
The current free-to-air television codes of practice, which are developed by industry and registered with the ACMA, currently include specific requirements for the provision of emergency information and closed-captions. Our submission maintains that these 'regulatory interventions' need to remain in any updated code of practice review to ensure consumer safeguards.
