The University of Melbourne

Grant round: 2013

Grant amount: $55,658

Along with the University of Melbourne's Research Unit in Public Cultures, an interdisciplinary team of researchers examined the implications of digital technology for the management of cultural knowledge.

The project engaged with Aboriginal young people to develop and design a prototype of a smartphone app which allows users to store and explore cultural knowledge. In the process, the young Aboriginal participants gained digital literacy skills as they learned about the processes involved in developing apps.

This project will inform and greatly contribute to the larger Australian Research Council Linkage Project, 'Aboriginal young people in Victoria and digital storytelling' (2014-2017).
