ACCAN recently submitted to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) Digital Platform Services Inquiry – September 2024 report revisiting general search services issues paper.
ACCAN called for:
- Consumer representation to be adequately funded to properly engage with emerging issues facing Australian consumers on digital platforms.
- The establishment of a digital platforms ombuds scheme before the end of 2024.
- The introduction of consumer protection measures outlined by the ACCC in the Treasury’s 2023 consultation.
- The introduction of competition measures outlined by the ACCC in the Treasury’s 2023 consultation.
