The ACCC has published a consultation paper on NBN Co’s proposed variation to its Special Access Undertaking and is inviting submissions from interested parties. The undertaking provides a framework for the economic regulation of the NBN until 2040, including rules for setting the maximum prices and service standards that NBN broadband providers could expect to receive. Be wary of emails and SMS claiming to be from myGov suggesting you are owed a refund. It may be a scam! The ACMA is aware of increasing reports of myGov impersonation email and SMS scams. These scams try to get you to click on a malicious link or visit a fake website in order to receive a repayment or refund, such as a tax refund. The Albanese Government has today announced the establishment of the First Nations Digital Inclusion Advisory Group to accelerate progress towards closing the digital inclusion gap for First Nations Australians. Convening for the first time today in Adelaide, the Advisory Group will work closely with First Nations people to provide advice to Government and identify practical measures to support progress towards Target 17 of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. COMPANY NEWS by Telstra: Earlier in July, we talked about the results of our new SMS scam blocking feature, which in the preceding three months since it was launched, had blocked over 185 million scam text messages. Since then, our SMS scam filters has continued to block millions of scam messages, with a staggering 225 million blocked since April this year. That’s around 775 malicious texts blocked every minute.
