A record 76 groups and individuals applied for a total of $250,000 in funding in the 2012 round of the ACCAN Grants Scheme, which closed on April 2.
ACCAN Research and Grants Officer Robin McNaughton said this year’s applications were of a very high standard and a great mix of projects targeting a diverse range of consumer issues.
“It is really exciting looking at the wide range of projects seeking funding through the Scheme. There is a big focus on projects that reflect the changing landscape of telecommunications in this country, including projects that build capacity for communities in urban, regional, remote and rural Australia.”
The applications will now go to ACCAN’s Independent Grants Panel, who will announce projects who have been awarded funding in mid-June. For more information on the assessment process and key dates, please see the 2012 Guidelines. The next round of the ACCAN Grants Scheme will open in early 2013.
