The primary focus of this submission is based on the interests of subscription television viewers with disability.
Summary: The Government’s 2010 Access to Media report included a recommendation for subscription television closed-caption quotas to be included in amendments to the Broadcasting Services Act (1992). While ACCAN is encouraged by these improvements in accessibility features we are concerned that they do not go far enough in providing equity of service for all subscription television consumers. In particular, the provision of emergency service announcements for subscribers with disability.
