ACCAN is once again renewing its membership base, and we want you to join our cause. Our place as Australia's watchdog for communications consumers relies on the strength of our diverse membership base, which is why we're asking you to become an ACCAN member, or renew your existing membership.

Over the past year, thanks to the help and expertise of our members, we have:

  • Developed Phone Rights, Australia's first telecommunications consumer smartphone app, which allows you to record poor mobile reception and helps you solve common phone or internet problems.
  • Been a leading voice in the media, with our appearances in the media increasing by 138% in the last year commenting on issues such as global roaming rip-offs, the IT pricing inquiry, enforcement of the new TCP Code, fairer pricing for mobile data, regional communications, privacy and security, disability and accessibility, to name a few.
  • Campaigned for major improvements in the disability sector, resulting in better communications services for people who are Deaf and hearing or speech impaired.
  • Lodged a formal complaint with the ACCC regarding a number of potentially misleading smartphone apps.
  • Had a win for victims of violence and those facing a security threat, who, after campaigning by ACCAN, no longer have to pay for a Telstra Silent Line.
  • Released tips in 8 languages for non-English speaking consumers on purchasing pre-paid calling cards.
  • Supported a number of grants projects, including the first report into NBN consumer experiences.
  • Increased our focus on small business consumers and Indigenous issues, which has included expanding our team to address these policy areas.

As an ACCAN member, you'll enjoy the benefits of:

  • Having access to a unified, national voice who can advocate on your behalf
  • Being able to directly contribute to and influence our campaigns and policy work
  • Free subscription to ACCAN's quarterly members magazine
