The ACCAN Grants Scheme opened this morning and is now accepting applications until Tuesday 31st March.

If you're interested in creating educational resources for phone or internet consumers or in researching an issue that affects them, get in touch with us to chat about your project idea. Call 02 9288 4000 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The most successful projects are those that have a good idea of the kind of work ACCAN does and understand the current telecommunications environment well. We look forward to hearing your ideas!

Check out past completed grants for some inspiration. A highlight from previous years is the research into homeless Australians' use of mobile phones and the internet. This project, led by Dr Justine Humphry, provided insights into how Australians experiencing homelessness use mobile phones and it has also led to the creation of the ACCAN Hardship Portal. The portal provides advice for consumers on the financial hardship policies of the three major telcos and also has some handy hints on how to keep phone costs down.

Other projects, for example, have examined small business use of telecommunications services and researched digital legacies – what happens to our online selves when we die?

Before applying, be sure to read the Grants Scheme guidelines. To access the application form, head to the ACCAN section on the Smarty Grants website.
