Media and Communications Officer

(Permanent, Full-time)

Working closely with the CEO, Deputy CEO, and Policy experts, you will be a highly motivated and dynamic media & communications professional with the potential to reach great heights in your chosen profession.

In this role you will:

  • Help develop and drive communications strategies to ensure ACCAN is well represented in all forms of media and well positioned to offer expert advice to consumers.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all media issues, including managing media enquiries, drafting media releases, and coordinating briefings.
  • Manage ACCAN’s social media channels.
  • Coordinate all member communications initiatives, primarily through online channels.
  • Draft relevant media reports as guided by the CEO and Deputy CEO.

To succeed in this role you should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to write a wide range of content for various platforms and audiences.
  • Experience in media liaison.
  • A strong understanding of social media management and how to leverage the respective platforms.
  • An understanding of consumer issues – ideally in the communications sector.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously to tight deadlines as part of a team.
  • Experience in writing for web, using content management systems and working with graphic designers.
  • Experience driving communications strategies in a multi-media environment.

You will also have relevant tertiary qualifications in public affairs, marketing, journalism or communications (or equivalent).  A strong interest in current affairs, government relations, and an understanding of contemporary communications issues will be to your advantage.
