NBN consumer guides

alt

The internet has changed most people’s lives, but the technology can seem hard to understand. This Guide answers common questions about the internet, broadband connections and the National Broadband Network (NBN).

The Quick Guide will help you to understand the basics of the NBN: technology, uses and how you will get connected.

The full NBN Guide contains more detail on these topics as well as extra info on pricing and services in an NBN world.

The Quick Guide is also available in Auslan for the Deaf community and an audio version for people who are blind or vision impaired.

Make sure you check with your service provider for current information when making decisions about phone or broadband services. You can also use ACCAN’s tip sheet when making a decision about choosing an internet service provider.

About the NBN Guide

The NBN Guide was authored by the Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) and the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN). The Guide was last updated in April 2013. This 2013 update is solely the responsibility of ACCAN and any comments should be directed to ACCAN.

The Guide contains information which will be subject to change. It has been compiled using information publicly available at the time of writing through NBN Co, government agencies, industry forums and standards bodies.
