2017-18 Program Summary

The ACCAN Grants Program funds projects which either undertake research on telecommunications issues, represent consumers or create educational tools which empower consumers to make decisions in their own interests and to understand telecommunications products and services. All eligible projects address systemic issues for telecommunications consumers.

ACCAN works towards a communications market that is fair and inclusive for all – a market which is available, accessible and affordable.

The ACCAN Grants Program 2017-18 was open for applications between 14 June 2017 and 25 July 2017. The 2017-18 Guidelines can be found on our Scheme overview page. We are no longer accepting applications in this round.

There is scope for a wide variety of projects. Previous ACCAN grants recipients have produced research that has provided a strong evidence base for our advocacy work. Funding has also been used to develop educational materials designed to empower consumers and communities.

The ACCAN Grants Program is competitive, carries a budget of  approx.$275,000pa and accepts applications during one round per year. Due to the federal government's review of consumer representation, the 2017 and 2018 rounds have been combined with a total of $520,000 available. Applicants can request funding to cover projects running for any period between 1 January 2018 and 30 June 2019. Any amount may be requested under the total budget available, however applicants should consider that ACCAN would like to see a mix of projects running over the period that would also include projects of short duration.
