This project researched the role of telecommunications as a bridge to communication for consumers from CALD backgrounds and the health professionals interacting with them. Can telecommunications act as an enabler of access to health information and communication in healthcare for clients who experience cultural or linguistic barriers to access? Project activities, including workshops with GPs and clients, generated increased awareness about these issues among the general community, the health care industry, and the research community. The project focused on the informed and responsible use of telecoms in this context and encourages consumers to explore their rights and obligations.
